Dorothy Mae Skinner Alphin

Ms. Dorothy Skinner Alphin, age 88, went to her heavenly home Tuesday following a brief stay at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston. Officiating will be Rev. Jimmy Forehand. Ms. Alphin was born November 14, 1929 in Jones County to the late William Garland and Mattie Skinner. She was also preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Sammy and Virginia Alphin, and brother and sister- in-law R.H. and Betty Skinner. She was a longtime member of Kinston First Pentecostal Holiness Church, enjoyed sewing, cooking, and spending time with her family. Surviving include her daughter Helen Becton and husband Roger, grandchildren, Dawn Philips-Melton and husband, Keith, Stacey Gilbert and friend Mike, Bryant Becton and wife, Amie. Great grandchildren, Avery, Landon and Andrew. The family will receive friends 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday at Garner Funeral Home and other times at the home of Dawn and Keith Melton. The family would like to thank Spring Arbor, UNC Lenoir Health Care, Harmony Hall and Kitty Askins for the care given to Mrs. Alphin.
