Dorothy Jean (Mercer) Pate

Dorothy Jean Mercer Pate, 84, of Hookerton passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Vidant Palliative Care, in Greenville. 

She is survived by her two grandchildren, Jennah Heath and Jared Heath; her son-in-law, Sean Sexton and daughter-in-law Madison Heath; her adoptive granddaughter, Rebecca Spivey; her great-grand babies, Jaymison, Tanner, Mayci, Kadence and Melody; sister-in-law who lives in Florida, Ernie Mastors.

Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She never knew a stranger. She loved God and devoted her life to Jesus and she always shared his wonderful gospel with anyone she met. She loved her great-grand babies more than anything in this world. She loved to tell them stories and to have sleep overs with her babies. Her hobbies were making jewelry, drawing and painting.

She also loved to fish, play pool and enjoyed to teach her grandchildren how to do all the things she loved to do. She was always putting others before herself, she had a very forgiving heart and could always put a smile on your face or could make you laugh by cracking a joke. Her loving sweet genuine memory will forever live in all who knew her. She left a special imprint on us all. She is now dancing with the angels.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Garner Funeral Home on Sunday, March 18, 2018. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 19, 2018 at Westview Cemetery.
