Guy Nelson Basden

Guy Nelson Basden, 83, of Kinston passed away on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the NC State Veterans Home in Kinston. Guy was retired from Kinston Fire Department as Captain and former Fire Marshall. He was also instrumental in founding and running the Caswell Station 1 Fire Museum. He served his country in the U.S. Airforce.

Visitation will be held 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Garner Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m. with Bishop Dr. Bruce Reece officiating. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park with Military Rites.

Guy is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Basden.

Survivors include his daughters, Tanya Laurer and husband Jonathan and Cindy Basden both of Raleigh; sons, James Basden of Kinston and Nelson Basden of California; grandchildren, Laura Laudate, Asia Taylor, Iona Taylor, Europa Bodnar, Olivia Basden and India Collier; sisters, Mary Ellen Davis of Wyse Fork, Rose Clark of Kinston and Nancy Williams of Grifton; brothers, James Basden of Washington State and Leonard Basden of Dover.
