Gwendolyn Sue White “Gwen” Smith

La Grange-Gwendolyn Sue White “Gwen” Smith, age 73, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at UNC Lenoir Health Care. She was a homemaker and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  She is preceded in death by her parents Willis Wayne White and Varon  DeBruhl; husband, James L. Smith, Jr., sister, Gloria Schimmel and brother, Clifton White.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Carey Road with Ricky Killinger conducting. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 12:00-2:00 p.m. and other times at the home of her daughter, Lavaron.  Interment will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Survivors include her daughters, Lavaron Howell and husband, Ricky of LaGrange, Jamie James and husband, Sean of Bradford, MA; sons, Christopher J. Smith and wife, Tammy of Fuquay Varina, Clifford W. Smith and wife, Teri of Andover, MA; sister, Mattie Ann Blake and husband, Keith of Wilmington; brothers John White and wife, Kathy of Vancouver, WA, Earl White of Lenoir; her grandchildren,  Ashley, Chris, Jr. and wife, Jessica, Regan, Justin, Ethan, Hailey, Teagan, Taryn and husband Robert, Brandon, Michael and wife, Katie, and Kiersten and  6 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lights of Love Program-Ostomy Support Group in honor of Gwen.
