James Edward Bynum, 75, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018. He was a great father, brother, grandfather, and a friend to all. He was the owner of Westview Monuments in Kinston, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents John Carlton Bynum and Sallie Dixon Bynum; brother, John Carlton “Carl” Bynum.
James graduated from Grainger High School in 1962. He worked at Sears, Kinston Auto Parts, and later became the owner/operator of Westview Monuments. James was an avid NC State Wolfpack fan and enjoyed spending his time on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
He is survived by his daughter Jimi Bynum Hill and husband Michael of Hookerton. Step-daughter, Andrea and husband Gary O’Neal of Kinston. Grandchildren, William Hill. Ashley Hill, Step Grandchildren, Ryan O’Neal and wife Megan, Jordan O’Neal and wife Taylor. Sister, Mary Etta Smith and husband Ed of Cape Carteret. Grand-dog, Lucy. He is also survived by Life long friend, Larry Benton.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. Sharon United Methodist Church in Kinston, NC. A visitation will follow the service.
