Jean Williams Whitley

Jean Williams "Mammy" Whitley Dover-Jean Williams "Mammy" Whitley, 85 of 316 Kornegay Street passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Carolina East of New Bern. She was a homemaker and a member of Dover United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert, Sr. and Nellie Raven Murphy Williams, her husband, P.G. Whitley, and her sisters, Ruby Brinkley, Macy Williams, Evelyn Pitts and Hazel Spencer. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Westview Cemetery with Reverend Leland Heath officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Survivors include her sons, Eugene P. Whitley and wife, Janice of New Bern and Mike W. Whitley, Sr. of Dover and friend, Gloria Uzzell; her brothers, Bert M. Williams, Jr. and Wallace J. Williams, both of Dover and Pete C. Williams of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two grandchildren, Kelley W. Brown of New Bern and Michael W. Whitley, Jr. and wife, Carla of Riverview, FL and Michael's mother, Linda and six great grandchildren, Joshua Brown, Nicholas Brown, Abigail Brown, Christopher Brown, Landon Whitley and Tyler Whitley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dover United Methodist Church in care of Teresa Hodges, P.O. Box 188, Dover NC 28526. Garner Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
