Nolan Snyder Obituary

Nolan Lee Snyder, 77 of Kinston went to his heavenly home on Saturday, August 11, 2018. He was residing at the N.C. State Veterans Home for the last several months.

He was a loving husband, caring father and fun-loving grandpa. He was retired from the N.C Forestry Service after thirty-three years. He was a veteran with the U.S. Army. He had a strong faith in God which carried him through the last several years battling Alzheimer’s.

He is survived by his wife, Susie Parris Snyder; one son, Adam Snyder and wife Emily of Raleigh; two daughters, Lowell West of Apex, Kim Taylor and husband Andy of Enka Candler; one stepdaughter, Sonia Haigler Burkett and husband Steve of Kinston. He leaves behind ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, Isabelle Snyder, Fiona Snyder, Delaney West, Harper West, and Willow West, Cole Taylor, Logan Taylor, Charles R. Burkett II, Madison Burkett and Lauren Burkett, Jaylen Burkett, and Christopher Burkett. He is also survived by two sisters, Audrey Lowe, and Naomi Shipley; brothers, Chester Snyder, Donald Snyder, and Glenn Snyder. Survivors also include Delores Sluga, mother of his children.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Southwood Memorial Christian Church on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation following the service, in fellowship Hall, with Pastor Andrew Shue, and Rick Vernon officiating, and music will be provided by Jane Vernon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southwood Memorial Christian Church, 1027 NC Hwy 58, Kinston, NC 28504, or the Dementia Alliance Organizations of North Carolina, 9131 Anson Way, Suite 206, Raleigh, NC 27615.
