Ava "Nanny" (Aldridge) Wilkins

Ava Aldridge Wilkins “Nanny”, 78, of Cape Carteret, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2024 at ECU Health in Greenville. Mrs. Wilkins was retired as a registered nurse at Lenoir Memorial Hospital and a member of Cape Carteret Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Charlotte Stallings; husband of 36 years, L.D. Aldridge; sister, Betsy Jones; and brothers Jimmy Stallings and Willie Allen Stallings.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Gordon Wilkins of  Cape Carteret; and daughters, Becky Grady (Alvin) of Kinston, Pam Suggs (Jimmy) of Snow Hill, and Missy Herring (Vance) of Kinston; Grandchildren, Stacey Hill (Trevor) of Kinston, Ryan Grady (Erinn) of Kinston, Nicholas Suggs (Sydney) of Snow Hill, Alex Suggs (Summer) of Snow Hill, and Peyton Herring of Kinston; Johnathan Jones of Wilmington, Whitney Jones (Calvin) of Fuquay-Varina and great grandchildren, Ava Hill, Blake Grady, Emma Hill, Chandler Suggs, and Hadley Grady; Brother in Law David Jones of Kinston and very special friend Ada Shoe.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Garner Funeral Home, funeral service will be held following with Pastor Kevin Clubb officiating. The burial will be at Pinelawn Memorial Park following the service.
