Barbara Eason age 84, passed away on Sunday, August 6th at The Service League of Greenville Hospice House surrounded by family. She was born in Duplin County, the daughter of John Edward and Lena Kilpatrick Heyer. In addition to her parents Barbara was preceded in death by her husbands Doyle Wayne Ricketts and Billy Stewart Eason; siblings, Betty Greenway and John Casper Heyer; and a daughter-in-law Janice Ricketts.
At the early age of 31 she became mom and dad to her three young children. Through many prayers, great courage, strength and love she watched them grow up and have children of their own.
Barbara retired from JE Bohannon Tobacco Company in Kinston after almost 20 years of service. She was a member of Lanes Chapel Church and enjoyed spending time in her yard taking special care of her flowers and trees, but her greatest joy was time spent with her grandchildren.
To cherish her memory are her son, Tim Ricketts; daughters Kim Murphy and husband David, Donna Nethercutt and husband Keith; step-children Rose Eason and Billie Jo Purdee and husband Jimmy; grandchildren Matthew Ricketts, Heather Walker, David Murphy, Joseph Ricketts, Christopher Nethercutt, Elisha Ricketts, Emmanuel Ricketts, Jonathan Nethercutt, Paul Edmondson, Stuart Avery, Cameron Purdee and Leah Reaves; and 13 great grandchildren; sisters Frances Bostic and Margaret Torrans and a very special sister-in-law Alice Daugherty and husband Dannie; and several nieces and nephews that were dear to her heart.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 11th at the Ayden Town Cemetery with the Reverend David Harrington officiating.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Lanes Chapel Church at 12040 NC Hwy 55 West, Dover NC 28526 or The Service League of Greenville Hospice House at 920 Wellness Drive, Greenville NC 27834.
