Brenda Capps Philyaw, 83, entered her Heavenly Home on Monday, November 10, 2025 in her home surrounded by family. She retired from the Jones County School System where she worked her entire career at Comfort Elementary School and influenced so many lives. She always said that some of her best days were the days spent with her students at school. She was also a retired member of Comfort Volunteer Fire and EMS where she served as a volunteer EMT for over 20 years. Brenda was a member of Comfort Christian Church for over 60 years, where she played the piano the entire time until just a few years ago when her memory would no longer allow it. Brenda was an extraordinary wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and was loved by so many. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years Eugene Allen Philyaw, her stepfather and mother John Phin (J.P.) and Clare Spence Davenport, and sister-in-law Dorothy “Dottie” Pike.
