Brett Randolph Hood

Brett Randolph Hood, of Greenville, passed away earlier this week at the age of 35.

Full of life, Brett knew the value of humor and having a good time. He was kindhearted and generous, quick to look out for a friend or help a stranger in need. His moral compass led him to rescue animals, including his 2 pups that he loved dearly. Brett was a history buff, and recently a new passion of his was ignited; diving. After graduating summa cum laude from ECU, he entered the Graduate Program in Maritime Studies, combining his love of the ocean and his passion for archaeology. Here he met many new friends and colleagues that he greatly treasured.

Brett loved his family and friends, and was especially close with his Mom, whom he could talk to about anything. His personality was larger than life, he could make a fast friend of anyone, young or old. Ever ready for a new experience, Brett's fearless approach to life took him on many adventures. A man of many interests, he particularly enjoyed cooking, traveling, and exploring all the world had to offer.

Brett is survived by his parents, Dianne Hood and Randy Hood both of Kinston; his brother, Landon Hood of Raleigh; grandmother, Faye White Hood of Dover; beloved dogs, Luna and Fenrir; aunts Wanda Edinger and Annette Wiggins; uncle, Pete Jenkins; and numerous cousins and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Randolph Hood, Stanley Jenkins and Beatrice Moore; and aunts, Karen Hood and Rose Haddock.

A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Garner Funeral Home, with Sarah Hughes delivering the eulogy. Visitation will be held following the Celebration of Life Memorial.
