Calvin Angus Cameron, 93, of Kinston passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Kinston, NC.
Calvin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce K. Cameron; daughter, Karen C. Alexander, and husband Don of Wake Forest; grandchildren, William C. Alexander, and Pierce R.M. Alexander; and numerous family and friends.
Calvin Angus Cameron, a proud husband, father, and grandfather, was born on the family farm in Lenoir County. He graduated from Contentnea High School in 1944 and Grainger High School in 1945. He was drafted by the United States Army during World War II and went on to serve for two years. Afterward, he attended “State College” at North Carolina State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy.
Calvin loved living on the family farm and working as a farmer. He was a lifelong member of the Sharon United Methodist Church, where he served in many capacities over the years. He was also very active with the Department of Agriculture of Lenoir County, where he served on numerous committees involved with the farming community. Calvin was an avid trout fisherman and golfer, which were two hobbies that he passed on to his two grandsons.
A Masonic service will be held for close friends and family at Sharon United Methodist Church on December the 24th at 11:00. COVID-19 guidelines will be followed.
