Carlton Ray Thigpen

Carlton Ray Thigpen, Jr., 86, of Kinston passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at his home.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carlton Thigpen, Sr. and Nannie Thigpen.

Carlton served in the United States Navy for 20 years and he was also a loyal patron of the G.I. Joe’s in Kinston.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Judy O. Thigpen of the home; daughter, Tina Thigpen Stapleton and friend, Thomas Schroeder of Holly Springs; son, Ray Thigpen and wife Cathy of Bushnell, FL; granddaughter, Lindsey Coley and husband Brian of Durham; grandson, Justin Croom and Fiancée Ashley Smith of Zebulon; great granddaughter, Ava Smith of Zebulon.

Visitation will be held 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Garner Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2023 at Pinelawn Memorial Park with Rev. Jimmy Sowers officiating with Military honors.
