Carol Sandlin Henderson, 78, of Kinston, born May 1, 1946, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 surrounded by her loving family at Kitty Askin Hospice Center.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Carol lived a life of love, faith, and dedication to her family. She was the beloved wife of Dwight Henderson and the proud mother of four daughters, Teresa Turner, Tamra Weatherspoon, Mary Henderson, and Terina Ivey. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren, Tyler Turner, Maegen Turner, Julie Wilkens, Jimmy Anderson, Jessica LaMay, Jennifer Miller, TJ Thigpen, April VanDerpoel, and Kevin VanDerpoel; as well as her great-grandchildren. The family also shared their love with her foster daughters, Mariah and Selena DeBonis. She is also survived by her sisters, Georgia Hudler (Jimmie), Linda Johnson (Tony), Beverly Deaver (Douglas), Deborah Bass (Glen), and Tammy Perez (Maxwell), who held a special place in her heart.
Carol was preceded in death by her infant son, George Edward Smith; grandson, Brandon Thigpen; parents, George and Julia Sandlin; and brothers, Odel Sandlin, William Sandlin, and Gary Sandlin.
Carol’s kindness, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to her loved ones will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were blessed to know her. Her compassion and devotion to family and friends touched countless lives.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Garner Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Deacon Craig Fried officiating, with a burial to follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Rest in peace Carol. Your love will forever light the hearts of those you leave behind.
