Cicero Preston Brinkley

Cicero Preston Brinkley, 84, of Dover, NC., entered Heaven’s Gates on Monday, August 5, 2024. Mr. Brinkley was born in Lenoir County on September 9, 1939 to the late Cicero and Clemmie Brinkley. He was retired from Barrus Construction Company. Mr. Brinkley was a member of the Moseley Creek Free Will Baptist Church in Dover. He was known for his love of the outdoors, and especially for his mastery of the art of small game trapping. Mr. Brinkley served his country and was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Margie Everett Brinkley; daughter, Alice Lane Dail; step-daughter, Michelle Wilson and husband Lee; grandsons, Gabriel Simpkins and wife Megan of West Virginia, Billy Aldridge New Bern; brother-in-law, Seth Everett; Great Grandson, Preston Jesse Simpkins; Sister, Violet Frazier and her husband, Dr. Richard Frazier; Bonus son, Shaun McMahon; fur baby, Precious. He was preceded in death by son, William James Brinkley; parents, Cicero and Clemmie Brinkley; sisters Elsie McCoy of Hugo and Vivian Wade of Lexington; brothers Walter Brinkley, Clarence Brinkley, Durwood Brinkley, Ronald Brinkley, Harry Brinkley, Bobby Brinkley, Sr., William Brinkley and Elwood Brinkley. Visitation will be held at Garner Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 12, 2024. Memorial services will follow at the funeral home at 2:oo p.m. Graveside Services with military honors will follow at the Manning Family Cemetery on Weyerhaeuser Road in Ayden.
