Clayton Earl Jones, 78, of Kinston passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Vidant Medical Center.
Clayton was raised on a farm and attended Jones Central High School where he was voted most friendly. He worked as a manager at Sherwin Williams for many years then at Heilig Meyers and retired from Caswell Center as a developmental technician. Clayton loved to talk to people and learn about their life. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed a good laugh and always gave you a smile no matter how he was feeling. Clayton was a member of the Woodington Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many positions including Bishop of the Greenville Ward. Most of all, Clayton was the best daddy and granddaddy. He would do anything to help his family. Their happiness was his life.
Clayton is preceded in death by his parents, Jack Jones and Phoebe Jones and grandson, Reese Jackson Jones.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 59 years, Linda Lee Jones; daughters, Lisa Jones Howard (Oscar Jr.) of Kinston, Patricia “Patti” Jones (Jeffrey) of Jones Co. and Kelly Marie Jones of Kinston; sons, Roger Clayton Jones (Cindy) of Snow Hill and Edward Jackson Jones of Santa Clara, CA; grandchildren, Laura (Travis), Stormy (David), Emily, Jessica (Jordan), Megan (Blake), Leah (Jon), Anna, Alaina, Isabella, Jackson, Nathan, Viviana, Hunter, Julia, Alissa, Noah; great grandchildren, Olivia, Sophie, Silas, Jackson, Dayton, Bellah, Rowan and Charlie; sisters, Roseann Jones (Gerald) of Jones Co.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Garner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held following at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Josh Tuller officiating. Burial will be held following the funeral service at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
