Clyde Wesley Andrews, 89, of Emerald Isle, NC passed away peacefully at his Emerald Isle home on September 17, 2023. He left this world just as he'd hoped: comfortably at home.
Clyde loved Emerald Isle and its beaches. He found joy in the simple things, like the sound of the waves and the beauty of the coast. A fan of live music, especially bluegrass, you'd often find Clyde tapping his foot to a good tune. He loved nature, from beach walks to the quiet paths of the Croatan National Forest. Health permitting, Clyde enjoyed fishing and time on his boat.
But above all, Clyde loved his family. His grandkids meant the world to him, and the love he shared with them will continue to shine bright.
Clyde leaves behind his loving wife, Betty Lou Outlaw Andrews, and their children: Glenn Andrews (Cheri), Wayne Andrews (Irene), and Susan Andrews Wilkie (David). His spirit will live on in his five grandchildren - Amanda Andrews Sparks (Drew), Wil Andrews (Brittany McGee), and Kate, Anna, and Charlotte Wilkie. He also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Keegan and Oliver Daurity.
One of 11 siblings, Clyde was preceded in death by his parents and many of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his sister, Grace Griffin, and brother, Thomas Leslie Andrews, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Thank you to his siblings and all the nieces and nephews that called, texted, visited and checked in on him over the past few years. You always brightened his day.
The family asks that instead of flowers, consider a donation to the National Forest Service in memory of Clyde's love for the outdoors.
Let's remember Clyde not with sorrow but with the happy moments he brought into our lives. Clyde's memory will live on every time we hear a bluegrass tune, see the ocean's waves, or feel a gentle breeze. May he rest in peace.
A Celebration of Clyde's Life will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 11:00 am at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston. Friends and family are welcome. Afterward, everyone is invited to King's BBQ on 405 E. New Bern Road, Kinston, to share stories and memories of Clyde.
