Edward "Eddie" Bruton Bright, Jr.

Edward “Eddie” Bright, Jr., 66, of Kinston, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Leola Bright, nephew Christopher Hill, and niece Ramona Huggins.  Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 45 years, Sherrian; daughters Haley Bright and Erin Fox and her husband Jason; grandchildren, Emma Drew and Case Fox; sisters, Jeanette Hill and Linda Toth; nephews and nieces, Kevin Hill, Donna Hill, and Bill Price; and brother and sister-in-law Greg and Amy Sugg. 

Eddie graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 1980 and was an avid Tar Heel fan.  He loved watching Tar Heel basketball.  One of his favorite things to do was have his family over and cook barbeque chicken for them.  He loved spoiling his grandchildren; taking great pleasure in allowing them to do things their parents would never allow at home!  Eddie and Sherrian attended Covenant Church in Winterville. 

A special thank you to our church family at Covenant Church and 902 Church, the wonderful nurses with Gentiva Hospice, and all the amazing support from friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke.  Checks should be made payable to Tisch Brain Tumor Center and sent to The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, DUMC Box 3624, Durham, NC 27710.

Visitors will be received at the home of Jason and Erin Fox, 3893 Henry Brooks Rd, Grifton, from 4:00 p.m. to7pm on Thursday, July 24, 2025.  A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
