Evelyn Rose Gray, born on January 8, 1935, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024, at the age of 89. She was reunited with her husband, William Thomas Gray, daughter Rose Wade, son George Gray, brother Tommy Nethercutt, sister Shelby Jean Walston, and her parents, Jessie LaFayette and Minnie Bess Nethercutt.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted son William Rossie Gray, daughter Toni Ann Manning, and brother Taylor “Shorty” Nethercutt. Evelyn's legacy extends through her grandchildren: Thomas Wade (Tina), John Wade, Crystal Gilvary, Will Gray, Cameron Gray, Colin Gray (Emma), and Amber Rupert (Chad) along with numerous cherished great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of extended family and friends.
Born in Greene County, Evelyn's life was deeply rooted in the community, and her faith flourished at Elm Grove Baptist Church. She was known for her unwavering dedication to her family, especially her son George, whom she tirelessly nurtured until his passing.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Greendale Forest for their exceptional care and support during Evelyn's final days. The family is also grateful to Evelyn’s niece, Peggy Keel, who provided many meals and care during this time.
Evelyn's presence will be sorely missed, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Evergreen Memorial Estates. A visitation will be held following the graveside.
