Florence (Banks) Philyaw

Florence Banks Philyaw, 90, of Comfort passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at her home. She was a cosmetologist and owner of Comfort Beauty Shop. Florence was a member of the Comfort Christian Church and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 86. She loved playing piano, working in her flower beds, and mostly enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Clifton Philyaw.

Florence is survived by her two children, Craig Philyaw (Rhonda) and Elaine DeMartino (Gene); three grandchildren, Christopher Philyaw (Amber), Shana Barfield, Dana Williamson (Chris); eight great grandchildren, Catelyn, Christopher, Clifton, Will, Meghan, Jessie, Kegan, Kambree; 35 nieces and nephews; and special friend, Robert Gaskill.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Garner Funeral Home. The funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Randy Tallman officiating. Graveside service will follow at Banks Town Cemetery.
