Frances Shearline (Melton) Escobar

Frances Shearline Escobar, affectionally known as “Granny” born in Birchwood Tennessee on May 5, 1938, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2021 surrounded by family and close friends. She lived in Deep Run, NC for 41years where her neighbors, past and present, considered her family.

Everyone was always welcome at Granny’s house. She was happy for loved ones to call or stop by to share a cup of coffee and good conversation. With a smile on her face and love in her heart, she loved cooking (especially biscuits and gravy or banana pudding) for her family and friends. She also loved planting flowers working in her garden, singing, and playing her guitar.

Granny is predeceased by her son Ronnie Ledford, daughter Sharon Ledford, and grandson, Jimmy Ledford.

Granny is survived by her husband of 47 years Rigoberto Escobar; her children Karen Tovar, Kenny Ledford and Wanda Brayall, Donnie and Mary Ledford, and Rogelio Escobar; her grandchildren, Bryant and Anjela Dukes, Efrain “Frankie” and April Ledford, Marcela Ledford, Jeremy and Cherly Ledford; Feliciano and Stacey Velazquez, Sharon Tovar and Curtis Hobbs, Kimberly Tovar, Rosa Lee Tovar, Christina DiCarlo and Tony Smith, John and Rosanna Ledford, and James Moyer; her great-grandchildren Micha Ledford, Logan Ledford, Bryson Ledford, Sarah Velazquez, Nathaniel Velazquez, Amya Velazquez, Victor Velazquez, Jeffery Ledford, Brooke Ledford, Pearl Tovar Hobbs, Winston Tovar Hobbs, Shiloh Hobbs, Penelope Tovar, Genevieve Tovar, Jude Tovar, Matthew DiCarlo, Anna Smith, Genievene Smith, Donovan Harris, John Ledford, Lillian Ledford, and Jasmine Ledford; her niece, Linda Sims Goble, and her nephew, Danny Labron Chase.

The family gives a special thanks to Sandra Rodgers King, Susan Rodgers Murphy, and the entire Rodgers family for their love and support over the years.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Westview Cemetery.
