Gail (Holden) Ottinger

Charlotte “Gail” Holden Ottinger, 80, of Kinston, NC passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 at UNC Lenoir Healthcare.

To know Gail was to have a best friend for life. She loved helping others anyway she could, spending time with her family and visiting with family in St. Louis, MO, traveling in her younger years, reading books, puzzles, playing bingo with her late friend Virginia Tew, watching Days of Our Lives, and what she called, “keeping Buddy straight.” Gail worked for Buddy Taylor at East Carolina Auction Company for 49 years as secretary, bookkeeper, and real estate broker. She also served as 1998 Credit Professionals International (CPI) President, 2006 CPI Honorary Award Member, 2007 CPI Hall of Fame, was the current CPI Financial Advisor, and a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant for over 30 years.

Gail is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Bernard Ottinger, Sr. and parents, Charles Holden and Lorene Brame Holden.

She is survived by her son, Bernie Ottinger (Laura) of La Grange; two grandchildren, Megan Rose (Allen) of Mt. Olive and Cole Ottinger (Mackenzie) of Wilmington; three great granddaughters, Carsyn Rose, Jessa Rose, and Whitley Rose; sister, Sharon Hitchcock (Harvey) of St. Louis, MO; many nieces and nephews, her work family that she loved dearly at Howard-Carter Funeral Home and Garner Funeral Home, and her cat, Minnie.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Pinelawn Memorial Park with Pastor Allen Ham officiating.
