Gladys Johnson Obituary

Gladys Mills Johnson, 93, of Premier Nursing Home, Jacksonville, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2020.

 

Gladys was born to James and Annie Mills in Pitt County, on February 5,1926. She spent the entirety of her life serving Jesus and loving people. She touched the lives of all she met and left a legacy of her love for Jesus and boldness in faith everywhere she went.

 

Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her husband, Ross F. Johnson, Jr., of Trenton.

 

She is survived by her son, Jimmy Smith, of Grimesland, and her daughter, Shirley Stanley, of Jacksonville. She also leaves behind her family of 6 grandchildren: Ronita Carter & Tom, Jimmy Leo Smith & Cara, Wendy Ellis, Vanessa Mayo, Alice Ranker & Tim, and Jeffery Smith & Shannon, as well as 12 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.

 

Family and friends will be received at Garner Funeral Home Monday, February 3, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Celebration Service will follow with Reverend Kenneth Dixon and Reverend Errett Marshburn.

 

Graveside Service will be held immediately following in Trenton.

 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Continuum Home Care and Hospice, Christian Life Fellowship, both of Jacksonville, North Carolina or Bridgeton Pentecostal Holiness Church, Bridgeton, North Carolina.
