Helen Marie LaForge, 92, of Kinston passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at UNC Lenoir Health Care. Helen married the love of her life, Victor LeForge, in 1950. She loved traveling the world with him throughout his military career. Helen was a loving and devoted mother. Described as a "sweetheart of a person", she loved the Lord, and grew up singing gospel music with her mother, sister, and brother. She was also known to have a deep appreciation for southern food, especially King's BBQ, collards, and apple pie.

Left to carry on her memory is her only son, Michael LaForge of Kinston; sister, Juanita Rose of Old Hickory, TN; brother, Roger Aldridge of Kinston; and beloved nephews, Herman "Skip" Garris and Robert Garris.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; parents, Ernest and Rachel Aldridge; brother, Ernest Marvin Aldridge; and sister, Grace Conway.

A private memorial service to honor the life of Helen, will be held at Spring Arbor of Kinston at a later date. Written condolences may be sent to Michael LaForge at 3207 Carey Road, Kinston, NC 28504.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Garner Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
