Isabelle Davenport Massengill Price, 96, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, in Kinston, North Carolina. Born on February 16, 1929, in Comfort, North Carolina, she lived a long and meaningful life rooted in faith, family, and service.
Isabelle was the daughter of Johnny and Omega Davenport. Throughout her life, she remained deeply connected to her roots in eastern North Carolina, living in both Kinston and Wilmington. Her most favorite place to spend time with friends and family though, was her little beach cottage in Surf City, NC where she was famous for her crab stews, chicken pastry and “tooty fruity” ice cream. She was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Luke Thomas (LT) Massengill; her second husband, Robert Price; her daughter-in-law, Betty Massengill; and her beloved parents.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Isabelle’s faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She served graciously for many years in various callings within the church community. Her commitment to service extended beyond the church walls as she also volunteered for nine years at Lenoir Memorial Hospital, offering kindness and support to those in need.
Isabelle’s family was the heart of her world. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter and very special son-in-law, Lulu and Dickie Killinger of Kinston; her son Norman Massengill of Knoxville, Tennessee; and her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Shari Massengill of Kinston. Her legacy continues through 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild expected soon.
Though small in stature, Isabelle was known for her spirited nature—a tiny yet feisty lady whose strength and warmth left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her unwavering devotion to both family and faith defined a life well lived.
May Isabelle’s memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Garner Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held following the visitation at 11:30 a.m. at Pinelawn Memorial Park 4488 Hwy 70 Kinston, NC.
