Jackie Lee Pate

Jackie Pate, 75, of Kinston passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at his home.

Jackie battled non-hodgkins for many years and was technically in remission until Merkel Cell, a skin cancer that had him to have surgery. This rare form of cancer usually comes back with a vengeance and that it did. Jackie’s wishes were always to pass at home surrounded by his family. We honored those wishes this past Wednesday. I, Doris Pate, was the last one to speak with him and pray. Five minutes after I left the room his sister and brother-in-law went in, and he had passed away. The family is so thankful to God for all the prayers that were sent up. God was listening and answered.

To all his golfing buddies, he loved you guys so much. Always talked about you. Thank you for always supporting Jackie.

To our church family for all the calls and text messages. Your love shown brightly. To my choir family, what a loving group. If you are not connected to any group, find one. I highly recommend the choir. You guys have had my back praying for Jackie and me. You are so appreciated. I am blessed beyond measure.

To Pastor Stocks, you came to the hospital many times to visit when finding out he was in Greenville Oncology Unit. You and Jackie have a rapport, he thought the world of you. So thankful for your prayers, encouragement to both of us and the family.

To Stephanie who has been a rock for me also. Her and Miss Mary, what true faithful leaders who can pray. To all who worked with him in Dunn, he loved you all Thank you for your outpour of love.

Jackie is now with his Lord. So many wanted to say goodbye and Jackie’s wishes were to be cremated, no visitation. The family said their goodbyes Friday for last time. We know his spirit has already left and is with Jesus. Jackie would talk to anyone about his faith and God, always trying to get others to accept.

In lieu of flowers, his wish was that donations may be made to the Lenoir County SPCA because he loved animals, Cancer Center or Tanglewood Church.

Thank you all for the outpour of love, it’s beautiful to see. That is what the loved of family does. We will see Jackie again when that time comes. Again, God Bless you all. The family and I would like to thank you all for everything but mostly for loving Jackie.
