James Arthur Davis

James Arthur Davis, 86, of Ayden passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025 in the comfort of his home with his loving and caring family by his side.

James was well known for his nickname J.J. He never saw a stranger. Loved by all who knew him. He would make you laugh with his funny faces and dance moves.

He worked as a pipe fitter in Maintenance at DuPont of Kinston for 34.8 years. Upon his retirement he continued doing electrical work for others.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Davis; parents, Henry Clay Davis and Annie E. Barfield Davis Hollaway; brother, Henry Allen Davis; sister, Betty Ann Edmondson.

Survivors include Belinda D. Ludwingsen, Robert W. Davis and wife Elizabeth; grandchildren, Jennifer Parsons, Cole Davis (Julia), Trevor Davis; great grandchildren, Jared Creel, Tyler Creel; great-great granddaughter, Ava Davis; sister, Annie Ruth Edmondson and companion Pamela Penny.

Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2025 at Garner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. following the visitation. Burial will follow the funeral service at Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange, NC.
