James "Jimmy" Alton Stallings, Sr.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. James Alton Stallings Sr., also known as "Jimmy," passed away on January 19, 2024, at the age of 74 at his home in Kinston, North Carolina. He was born on September 5, 1949, in Craven County, North Carolina.

Jimmy was a one-of-a-kind individual who had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. If he wasn't outside, he was busy planning his next outdoor adventure. Jimmy also proudly served his country, and enjoyed sharing stories of his experiences with others.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jeanie Stallings, and their children: James Alton Stallings Jr. "Bugger" of Kinston and Angela "Angie" Jean Stallings (Cam) of Kinston. He was also a cherished grandfather to Jamie Nichole Stallings of Kinston, Haley Brooke Stallings (Douglas) of Trenton, and Austin James Ham of Kinston. Jimmy's great-grandchildren, Jaylee Nichole Grant of Kinston and Paisley Ann Marshburn of Trenton, all his family, especially children and grandchildren brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Ann Moody Stallings of Deep Run, his special outdoor buddy, Richard Martin Baker ll "Ricky" of Jacksonville, and special little buddy, Nathan "Nate" Parker Humphrey of Kinston.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Hettie Evelyn Tripp Stallings and Thomas "Tom" Troy Stallings, his sister Hettie Marie Stallings Harrell, his brother John Stallings, his brother Thomas "Big Tom" Stallings, and his granddaughter, Stephanie Jean Stallings.

Private funeral arrangements have been made for immediate family only. A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Deep Run Free Will Baptist Church on John Green Smith Road for the public. Please attend in casual attire.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made in memory of Jimmy Stallings. Special thanks go to Stallings' nephew, Samuel McLawhorn of KPD, and all responding Lenoir County Emergency Personnel, Mr. Randy Croom, Mr. Ricky, and the staff of Garner Funeral Services.

May Jimmy rest in eternal peace, forever remembered for his adventurous spirit and the love he shared with his family and friends.
