Jennie Katherine (Smith) Lassiter

Jennie Smith Lassiter, 88, of Kinston passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018 at home in Kinston, NC.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Leathel Edgerton Howell; husband, L. M. “Melvin” Lassiter, Jr. and son, Michael Lassiter.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Lassiter Hardin and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Bailey Edgerton Hardin, Riley Vickory Hardin and MacKenzie Mizell; brother, William “Bill” Smith and wife Jane; nieces, Susie Gregory (David), Mary Ann Flythe (David), Dana Flye (Pete), Kathy Wrenn (Keith) and Susan Brumfield (Steve) and nephews, William (Bill) Smith II (Rose) and Stephen Glover (Denise).

The family would like to express sincere thanks to Angela Garris, Bertha Simpler and Clarissa Harris for the love and care they provided. The family would also like to thank Community Hospice and Heather Elden for the exceptional services they provided.  

A funeral service will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Westminster United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Westminster United Methodist Church.
