Jewel "Kay" (Turnage) Hill

Jewel “Kay” Turnage Hill, 69, of Kinston passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Rivermont Baptist Church with Pastor John Morton officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church.

Kay is survived by her son, Clifton Hill and spouse Aaron Lucier of Greenville; sisters, Connie Marie Barker of Fuquay-Varina, Susan Diane Turnage of Kinston; numerous beloved cousins, aunts, and uncles.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Shelley Kay Hill Cates; mother, Doris Jewel Turnage Smith; and father, Frederick Howard Turnage.

Kay loved her family, loved her church, and she loved purple. For Kay there could never be enough purple - whether it was on her person, in her home, or in the world. She loved purple and was rarely seen without it.

The family would like to extend special thanks the cancer care team at ECU Health, and especially the staff of the Service League Inpatient Hospice of Greenville, whose care blessed and comforted Kay and the family through her illness.
