John "Johnny" Grady Obituary

John (Johnny) Alvin Grady 81 of Kinston, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024 at his home.  He married Lilla Sue Davis on November 29, 1963 and was sealed to her in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity on October 17, 1966. Johnny farmed for his dad and professionally he worked as an electrician at Green’s (Electricon), and also worked at DuPont in Kinston.  He started Grady Electric Company in 1975.  He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints – Woodington Ward, and a member of the Masonic, St. John’s Lodge #4. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert H. Grady and Elsie Irene Hawkins Grady as well as a sister, Pamela Sue Grady. 

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sue D. Grady; daughter Jennifer Tyndall (Daren), Son, John A. Grady, Jr. (Kristy), and daughter Jo Anne Grady. Siblings, Judy Swiger (Robert), Marsha Stroud (David), and Kathy Fordham (Tim).  Grandchildren: Brooke, Paul, Alex, Joseph, John III, Meredith, Chari, Hayden, special foster grandchild, Cohner, special employee, Johnathan Howard, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Garner Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024. A memorial service will be held at the Woodington Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 6655 Hwy 258 South, Deep Run at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 with interment following at Westview Cemetery in Kinston.
