Joseph William Likar, 77, of Kinston passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at his home.
Joseph served for 33 years with the US Army before he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his time in the military is served with the First of the 8th Cavalry Regiment “Jumping Mustangs” during Vietnam, served during Desert Storm her served with the 106 with the National Guard, and he was at Ground Zero during 9/11 with the National Guard Active Duty.
He is preceded in death by his son, Joseph Charles Likar; parents, Joseph and Frances Likar and brother, Raymond Likar.
Left to cherish is memory is his wife of 56 years, Sharyn Likar; daughter, Jennifer Lynne Likar; grandson who was like a son, Devin Joseph Likar; sister, Millicent Merraillo; sister-in-law, Sandra Lynn Toohey and niece, Tracey Lynn Pratt.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 24, 2025 at Garner Funeral Home with Pastor Frank Kinast officiating. A burial will be held following the funeral at 12:00 p.m. at the East Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro.
