Joyce Townsley Daigle of Kinston, NC passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the age of 92 surrounded by her family.
Joyce was born in Reydon, OK on June 22, 1932 to father, Harvey Leonard Townsley and mother, Violet Herzberg Townsley. She graduated from high school at Apostolic College in Tulsa, OK where she met the love of her life, Wafford J. Daigle, Jr. They married on Christmas Eve in 1953 and after graduating, felt God’s call to the Carolinas to pioneer several new churches with the United Pentecostal Church.
Along with being a homemaker and raising her four lovely children, Joyce was an avid quilter and seamstress since a young age. She made the “Dorothy Original” ruffle curtains, drapes and accessories for many homes in Eastern NC. Along with sewing for others, she made all her own clothes, was the church musician, active in the ladies’ auxiliary and all while working alongside her husband to plant and grow churches and ministries. She made and gifted too many quilts to count for her family, friends and charities for all kinds of special occasions.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years; her parents; her brother, Leonard Townsley; her sisters, Ruthie Spurgeon and Dorothy Scott, their spouses; and daughter-in-law, Tamara Ruth Daigle. She is survived by her brother, Johnny Townsley; her children, Debbie Ruth Flowers, James Allen Daigle and wife Robin, Beckie Daigle Wills and husband Ricky, and Raymond Paul Daigle; grandchildren, Shane Flowers and wife Rachelle, Jessica Mizell and husband Larry, Evan Daigle, Robert Daigle and wife Tierney, Richard and Ronny Wills, as well as, Blair Davis and wife Amanda; and great grandchildren, Aiden Flowers, Trista and Melissa Alexander, Jessa Mizell, Collin, Mackenzie, Thomas, Dakota and Riley Wills, as well as, Magnolia and Tillulah Daigle.
Visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2024 at The Lord's Vineyard Church, 3651 Salem Church Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530. Funeral service will be held following with Reverends David and Shane Hayes officiating. Burial will be held following the funeral service at Westview Cemetery in Kinston. Pall bearers include Joyce’s grandsons, and great grandsons, Riley and Collin Wills.
