Liveston "Bud" David Herring

Liveston “Bud” David Herring, 84, of Kinston passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

Liveston worked part-time for many years at the county landfill drop-off recycling center. He was a dedicated worker and always kept busy and never slowing down. Liveston’s wife of 42 years, Margaret, was the love of his life. He was dedicated to family especially his grandchildren. Liveston always referred to his grand-daughter, Brittany as his movie star. There was never anything you asked him to do if possible that he wouldn’t do. He will be truly missed and most of all never forgotten. Rest in peace “Bud”.

Liveston is preceded in death by his parents, David and Eula Herring; two step sons, Douglas Cox and Kenny Cox; two sisters, Irene Williams and Maxine Herring; brother, Roger Herring.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Margaret Byrd Herring of Kinston; step daughters, Brenda Thomas and husband Rick of Kinston and Ann Hammond of Pink Hill; step son, Robert Cox and wife Debbie Cox of Kinston; grandchildren, Justin Church, Brittany Morgan, Amber Norris and husband TJ, Travis Cox, Ben Cox and wife Natalie; great grandchildren, JJ Boyette, Chancelor Church, Blake Norris, Thomas Norris, Wesley Cox; brother, Ralph Herring and wife Janice Herring of Kinston.

A Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2025 at Garner Funeral Home. The burial will be held following the visitation at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Thank you to all the caregivers, especially at UNC Lenoir Healthcare, for the attention and care you gave during his time with you. A special thanks goes out to Dr. Larabee of UNC Orthopedics for his compassion, and the communication that he gave. You are one of a kind. A special thank you to the staff at Kitty Askins Hospice for the care that you gave the family and for making his transition a calm and peaceful one.
