Ralph Bernard Ottinger

Ralph Bernard Ottinger, 81, of Kinston passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at his home. Until flooded out by Hurricane Florence he enjoyed working in his yard and took great pride in making sure everything was nice and beautiful.

Ralph served four years in the Marines Corp after which he returned to settle in Kinston to further his education, graduating from ECU. He began his career in teaching in Lenoir County, then Brodgen Jr. High in Wayne County and retired from Eastern Wayne High School.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Georgie Ottinger; brother, Robert “Bobby” Ottinger.

Survived by his wife of 61 years, Gail; son, Bernie and daughter-in-law, Laura of LaGrange; two grandchildren, Megan Rose (Allen) of Mt. Olive and Cole Ottinger (Mackenzie) of Wilmington; three great granddaughters, Carsyn, Jessa and Whitley.

Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Pinelawn Memorial Park with Pastor Allen Ham officiating.
