Roger Bryant Becton

Roger Bryant Becton, 77, of Cedar Point passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Carteret Healthcare in Morehead City.

Roger was born in Kinston, NC and graduated from Contentnea High School in 1963. He retired from DuPont with 36 years’ service, and served 33 years in the Army National Guard where he retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 5. He was devoted to his family, loyal to his country, and appreciative of all his many blessings.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Emily Becton; sister, Glenda Fay Becton; and his special companion, Priss.

Roger is survived by his wife of 25 years, Helen Becton of the home and dog daughter, Coco; son, Bryant Becton and wife Amie of Wake Forest; daughter, Dawn Phillips-Melton and husband Keith of LaGrange; grandson, Andrew Becton; granddogs, Rocky and Sassy; special friends, Margaret Ann Becton and Eddie Dawson; many special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors.

Visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Garner Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Jimmy Sowers. Burial will be held following the funeral service at Pinelawn Memorial Park with Military Honors.  

The family would like to say thank you to his many caregivers during his extended illness and a special thank you to Dr. Cuervo and Dr. Harris and their team.
