Sharon Fordham Obituary

Sharon Ann (Beers) Fordham, born on February 2, 1964, departed on life’s final adventure on November 25, 2022, surrounded by family and close friends.

Born to Robert and Anna Beers in Marquette, Michigan, Sharon’s adventures began at a young age, as she traveled the states during her father’s service in the military. She loved her parents dearly, and her mother held a special place in her heart as a source of strength and peace throughout her life.

As a young adult, she learned many trades, accomplishing anything she set out to do. However, no trade would compare to the joys of motherhood as she welcomed her baby boy Michael in 1988. Sharon continued her life in Goldsboro, North Carolina as she and her family raised Michael with further support from close friends. Sharon was a mother who cherished and saved every handmade ornament and drawing Michael created as a child, her pride and love for him endless.

In 2016, the depths of her love would only grow as she became “nana” with the birth of her first granddaughter, Brooklyn. When her “Brook Brook” came to visit, the pair could usually be found crafting or playing outside with the animals. While Sharon would leave us before the birth of her youngest granddaughter, there is no doubt that she was there with baby Mia and her mother, keeping them safe as Mia entered the world. Many referred to Sharon as “nana” or “Aunt Sharon,” as she gave her love freely to all the children she knew.

She held many service-related positions throughout her life. From serving in restaurants and working in retail, to being a caregiver, she was always compassionate and enjoyed helping others in need. Her passion for caregiving guided her toward her next adventure in life, in which she opened her arms and heart to a new community. After a few years within this community, two families were united as one when she married the love of her life, Jimmy Fordham, in 2019. With their union, Sharon also gained three daughters Kristen, Mary Grace, and Jamie as well as her beloved Aunt Gracie, all of whom were precious to her.

Sharon, Jimmy, and their big family made many fond and cherished memories together. From road trips, cookouts, beach trips, and shopping sprees to movie nights and late nights in the yard dancing and singing, every moment was unforgettable. She could make you laugh so hard you cried, and she was always the life of any party, making every day an adventure for those around her.

Life took an unexpected turn when Sharon was diagnosed with cancer. She received unconditional love and support from her growing family and friends, and Jimmy remained her anchor, loving and caring for her during her most difficult battles. And though cancer was a part of her story, it was by no means what defined her.

She saw the beauty in things that others might have overlooked. She enjoyed collecting rocks, shells, shark teeth, plants, and knick knacks she could display around her home. Whether she was cozy under a warm blanket, watching television with her cat, Snow White, or out with her friends and family, she would always make the best of her day.

Sharon was a compass, guiding her loved ones through obstacles, helping them to see the good and the possible. She knew no stranger and was a friend to everyone she crossed paths with. Her smile was the most genuine and could brighten any room, no matter how dark. Her laughter brought so much joy to others, and she loved so fiercely that those who knew her will forever hold her memory, engraved in our hearts.

In her final days, she carried the same strength, light, and love as always. Her smile, laughter, and beauty will truly be missed by all. Every dish, every craft, and every trip made will memorialize Sharon's life and unconditional love.
