Shirley Maxine (Benson) Smith

Shirley Benson Smith, 88, of Kinston passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022 at her home.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she played the piano and provided music for services for many years. Shirley also taught piano lessons for most of her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and she will be dearly missed by all.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Harry F. Smith and parents, George and Christine Benson.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sherri Ragan and husband Stephen, Patti Barrow and husband Bill; son, Frederick Benson Smith; grandchildren, Corey Barrow, Amanda Hof and husband Justin, Amie Heath and Brittany Barrow; great grandchildren, Brynleigh, Kennedy, Max Benson, Mason and Marlee; sisters, Anne O’Briant and Glenda Smith; four legged companion, Turbo.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 10, 2022 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kinston Ward with Bishop Jeff Howard officiating. Burial will be held following the funeral service at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
