Sylvia Mae (Williams) Hayes

Sylvia Mae Williams Hayes, 85, of Kinston passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 9, 2025.

She was the best “mamaw”. Sylvia loved her hot peppers and Bojangles but most of all she loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. Her door to her home was aways kept open. Sylvia and her late husband Preston together opened SportLanes bowling Ally here in Kinston. She loved traveling to Fall Branch, TN and spending time with her family there. Sylvia read her Bible daily and was the family prayer warrior.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Preston Hayes; daughter, Natalie; brother, Richard and sister, Joyce; parents, Virgil and Katherine Williams.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Sissy Schrader and husband Hal; son, Neal Hayes; grandchildren, Nicole, Bobbie, Courtney, Kendall, Brittany, Jordan, Liz and Davis; numerous great grandchildren; brother, Willie Williams and wife Sandy.

A private graveside service will be held for the family at a later date.
