Valera Carter Stallings, 99, of Kinston passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at UNC Lenoir Heathcare.
She was a long standing member of Bethel Freewill Baptist Church. Valera never missed a make-up day and prayed for her family every day. She loved her family dearly and even more so her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Valera was a great mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother and she is going to be missed dearly.
Valera is preceded in death by her husband, Willard C. Stallings, Sr.; sons, Willard Stallings, Jr. and Dennis Wayne Stallings; her granddaughters, Michelle Katzenberger and Lynn Allison Rhodes; parents, Dave and Molly Carter; brother, Ray Carter; Sisters, Kay Mobley and Ruby Houston.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Albert Ray Stallings and wife Laura; daughter-in-law, Joyce Stallings; son-in-law, Neal Rhodes; grandchildren, Willard Stallings (Paige), Jonathan Stallings, Jeffery Stallings (Stephanie), Dennise Stallings, Scott Stallings, Erica Blalock (Ed), R.J. Smith; great grandchildren, Seth, Sarah, Samantha, Shane, Jordan, Nick, Bryant, Jonah, Alexus, Corbin, Harrison, Bailey, Mason, Rowan; great great grandchildren, Brayden, Jensen, Nevan, Anakin, Oaklyn, Theo; brother, Larry Carter (Glenda); many nieces and nephews; special caretaker, Lavon Williams.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2025 at Bethel Freewill Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow the visitation at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Chris Truett officiating. Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Westview Cemetery.
