Vivian Mae (Hobgood) Mumford

Vivian Hobgood Mumford, 88, of Kinston passed away Saturday morning, October 2, 2021. She was born on December 19, 1932, daughter of Linwood and Nannie Hobgood.

In 1949, she married the love of her life, George Mumford, of Pitt County, NC. She retired from Albain Shirt Company. She loved her family, was a long time member of Grace Baptist Church, loved going to Auctions and yard sales.

She is survived by her children, Connie Herring and husband Harold, Georgie Sasser, Linda Dawson all of Kinston, NC; Grandchildren, Reid Sasser (Michele) of Kinston, Jason Dail (Donna) of Wilmington, NC, Brooks Sasser (Nikki) of Carteret County, NC; great grandchildren, Madelyn Sasser, Sydney Sasser, Mason Sasser, Kyleigh Sasser, Hickson Sasser, Olivia Dail, Luke Dail and special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Josephine Tyndall; brothers, Linwood Jr. and Harold; son-in-law, Allen Sasser. Surviving sister, Jean Beamon.

There will be a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Service will be officiated by Dr. Bill Bradley, Pastor Grace Baptist Church of Kinston, and dear friend Bruce Southerland of Grace Baptist Church, Kinston NC.

The family would like to thank the family of Grace Baptist Church, Dr. Pardeep Arumugham, UNC Lenoir Health Care and all of her friends and neighbors who shared their love and time. Special thanks to her hairdresser, Mrs. Evelyn King.
